Capture the entire screen:
Press Command + Shift + 3.
The screenshot will be saved as a file on your desktop.
Capture a selected portion of the screen:
Press Command + Shift + 4.
Your cursor will change to a crosshair.
Click and drag the crosshair to select the portion of the screen you want to capture.
Release the mouse button to take the screenshot.
The screenshot will be saved as a file on your desktop.
Capture a specific window:
Press Command + Shift + 4 + Spacebar.
Your cursor will change to a camera icon.
Move the camera icon over the window you want to capture.
Click on the window to take the screenshot.
The screenshot will be saved as a file on your desktop.
Capture the Touch Bar (for MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar):
Press Command + Shift + 6.
The screenshot will be saved as a file on your desktop.
These are the basic screenshot shortcuts on a Mac. If you're using macOS Mojave or later, you can also use the Screenshot app, which offers additional options and features. To access the Screenshot app, press Command + Shift + 5.
Once you've taken a screenshot, you can find the saved image file on your desktop labeled with the date and time of the capture.
